Islamic Education Centre organised a one day seminar on "Personality development in an Islamic perspective" on February 20, 2022 at Hotel Town House. The seminar focused on the development of personality of our generation through the teachings of our peaceful religion Islam and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions

The program started at 10 a.m. with the welcome address by Miss Amina Khan (Faculty, IEC). The dignitaries were Maulana Mohammed Umrain Mehfooz Rahmani (Secretary, All India Muslim Personal law board), Dr Asma Zahra (Chief organiser, Women's wing, All India Muslim Personal law board), Mufti Hasnain Mehfooz Nomani (Qazi-e-shariat, Malegaon), Ms. Sobiya Lule (Co-ordinator-Pune, All India Muslim Personal Law Board); Prof. Saba Arif (AKI's Poona College), Mr. Mohammad Tabish Rahmani (Director, IEC), Mrs. Madiha Osama Shaikh (Co-director, IEC) & Ms. Alfiya Sutar ( Masail Department, IEC).

Opening remarks and introduction was given by Muhammad Tabish Rahmani. He highlighted the need for an individual to develop his/her personality through the teachings of Islam and quickly summarised the ideology of not degrading oneself for following the sunnahs of our Prophet (PBUH) and walking on the path of Islam

The seminar was followed by the presence of Mr. Ashok Kadam (Senior Police Inspector, Lashkar Police Station). He emphasized the need of such seminars among today’s youth and appreciated the same for organizing one by Islamic Education Centre. He also shared his views on the importance of implementation of such lesson learnt in our day to day life.

After a well arranged take five for the students and guest of about 30 minutes, the seminar resumed with Prof. Saba Arif addressing the students on her topic ‘’Reflection of Muslim girls in college life’’. The crisp of her speech was very interesting which included the behavioral characteristics (both inherent and acquired) and the wrong definition of modesty among our today’s Muslim college going girls. She also bought up the issue of inaccurate influencing through social media in our generation.

Following was our Guest Speaker Mrs. Sobiya Lule, enthusiastic and actively engaged with students. The essence of her speech was to make an individual learn about the development of personality through the ‘’Five pillars of Islam’’. She beautifully conveyed her message through simply talking about these five pillars, i.e The declaration of faith, Prayer, Alms-giving, Fasting and Pilgrimalage which constitutes the basic norms of Islamic practice.

An adequate midday meal followed by Zohar namaz was arranged by Islamic Education Centre which later was followed by Dr Asma Zahra speech. She simply spoke about how one can achieve empowered personality by following the commands given by Allah (SWT) and the Sunnahs of Prophet (PBUH). She also discussed how the modern definition of liberal and freedom have distant the youth from deen. In particular, she mentioned about the first revelation which consisted of the word ‘’Iqra’’ that is ‘’to read’’ and expound the importance of education in the community and unfolded that Islamic education not only teaches one about the aakhirah but also about duniya especially the knowledge related to science as well as social science, psychology and human creation. She also had a talked through the customs and traditions which is leading the youth towards immodesty and disobedience to the Almighty. She also guided the girls to acquire good education and while doing so to maintain their chastity and purity. She genuinely spoke about the correct attire. She concluded her speech with an English saying ‘’Sow a deed, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny’’.

Dr. Asma Zahra speech was followed by the speech of Maulana Umrain Mehfooz Rahmani, the esteemed Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring speech to the students. In his address, he emphasized the importance of cultivating a personality that is not only self-enriching but also beneficial to others. He stressed that such a personality endures over time.

Maulana Umrain Mehfooz Rahmani highlighted the significance of using good and kind words, maintaining high-quality thoughts, and harboring positive feelings without grudges towards others. He underlined that this philosophy of personality development is deeply ingrained in the teachings of Islam, which have been guiding individuals for over 1400 years.

He cautioned against the damaging impact of negative words on relationships and encouraged students to embrace the Islamic principle of helping those in need. He equated the attributes of a good human with those of a good Muslim, emphasizing the universality of these values.

He concluded his speech with a powerful message, urging students to strive for success in both the material and spiritual realms. He advised them to focus on making a place in someone's heart, through acts of kindness, forgiveness, and respect, rather than breaking one. This, he believed, is the path to true success in both this world (duniya) and the hereafter (aakhirah).

Dr Asma Zahra and the Chief guest could not participate physically but contributed their part to the seminar by online mode.

Subsequently came Mufti Hasnain Mahfuz Nomani, the subject matter of his speech was the blessing that the almighty has bestowed on his each and every believer. All that a believer has to do is to count their blessings and be pleased with the Almighty.

In brief, the objective of the overall seminar was that a person can achieve the best of the personality by simply following the Sunnahs of Prophet (PBUH) and teachings of Islam.
