Visit to the War Memorial [Republic Day]

Republic Day holds immense significance in India. On this day, the Indian Constitution came into effect, marking the transition of India into a sovereign republic. The day is celebrated with parades, cultural events, and patriotic fervor, reminding citizens of the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution. Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm in India every year on January 26th 2023 to honor the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950. This year, the students of Islamic Education Centre in Pune had a unique opportunity to visit the War Memorial at Southern Command, Pune, to witness the flag hoisting and pay tribute to the sacrifices of our armed forces.

On the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, The War Memorial Southern Command witnessed a memorable celebration that showcased the deep-rooted love for the nation and the unison of the military and the civilian communities.

Opening remarks and introduction was given by Muhammad Tabish Rahmani. He highlighted the need for an individual to develop his/her personality through the teachings of Islam and quickly summarised the ideology of not degrading oneself for following the sunnahs of our Prophet (PBUH) and walking on the path of Islam

The event provided an opportunity for army personnel and the students of Islamic Education Center to come together, for giving a sense of unity and camaraderie as they celebrated this national festival. Senior Army officers graciously engaged with the students from the Islamic Education Centre, taking photographs and fostering a sense of connection between the military and the younger generation.

The Director of Islamic Education Center shared his views with the students and people gathered there, that emphasized the importance of love for the nation and encouraged everyone to uphold the values of patriotism. Following the flag hoisting ceremony, the students were taken to the Army Museum where they had opportunity to explore various army outfits, weapons and tanks that had been used in the warfare. This visit proved to be an educational journey as the students absorbed valuable insights into the history and operations of the Indian Army.

In addition to the museum, the students visited a store where various items were available for civilians, each bearing the proud labels of the Indian Army. The Republic Day Celebration at the War Memorial Southern Command was a testament to the unity, patriotism and shared love for the country that binds people from all walks of life. It was an event that not only showcased the military's dedication, but also left a lasting impression on the students of Islamic Education Center, instilling in them a deep respect for the armed forces and the nation they serve.
